The town of Saint-Philippe is renowned for its vacoa fiber basketry. On the strength of this reputation, the municipality wanted to offer craftswomen a place of creation, reflection on the sector, and gathering in the Maison de la Tresse et du Terroir.

Since its launch in 2016, it has continued to multiply partnerships, create and grow. It has become the heritage showcase of the town.
The weavers work every day to perpetuate this art passed down from mother to daughter by in turn passing on their know-how to trainees, schoolchildren, tourists, etc., each time arousing interest and admiration.

The basket weavers also manufacture traditional products such as the “bertel“, the “tente” for shopping, bags, hats, etc., but also pieces with a unique design in keeping with the spirit of craftsmanship.
They give free rein to their imagination while drawing inspiration from the fashion of the moment.
